Understanding Aqualyx
A local injectable, with important limits.
Aqualyx is injected into subcutaneous tissue in a carefully mapped area. It is not the same as losing weight, and evidence for Aqualyx itself is more limited than the evidence for licensed deoxycholic-acid products used under the chin.
The Glasgow assessment covers the exact product, its regulatory status, your medicines and medical history, and alternatives such as doing nothing. Booking or paying a deposit does not mean treatment will go ahead.

These reactions can be marked. Infection, skin or tissue injury, persistent lumps, altered sensation, scarring and an uneven contour are less common but require clear discussion before consent.

Follow your written aftercare. Worsening pain, spreading redness, heat, pus, fever, skin colour change, blistering or swelling that increases rather than settles need prompt advice; severe symptoms need urgent medical help.

Aqualyx is injectable. The prescriber must assess you in person, consider your health and medicines, explain the product’s status and decide whether there is an appropriate individual reason to use it.
What should I tell the prescriber?
Give a complete account of medicines, supplements, allergies, prior procedures, pregnancy or breastfeeding, bleeding or immune problems, liver or kidney disease, skin infection and healing difficulties. Do not stop prescribed medicine without medical advice.
Can Aqualyx help me lose weight?
No. It is marketed for limited subcutaneous deposits and does not treat overweight, obesity or visceral fat. Discuss weight and health separately with an appropriate healthcare professional.
How certain is the evidence?
Published evidence specific to Aqualyx is limited and is not equivalent to the larger trials for licensed deoxycholic-acid treatment under the chin. That uncertainty should inform your decision.
What is normal after injections?
Swelling, bruising, tenderness, firmness, itching and temporary altered sensation may occur and can be noticeable. Use only pain relief and aftercare advised for you.
Which changes need prompt help?
Worsening or severe pain, spreading redness or heat, pus, fever, blisters, pale or darkening skin, increasing asymmetry, breathing difficulty or facial swelling are not routine. Contact the clinic and seek urgent help as appropriate.
Can I decline after consultation?
Yes. Assessment creates no obligation. You can take time, ask about alternatives and decline; the prescriber can also decide that no treatment is safer.
